MULA sa bench ay binuhat ni Dennis Chung ang Filipinas sa face-saving 1-all draw laban sa Cambodia noong Lunes ng gabi sa pag-sisimula ng 30th Southeast Asian Games football tournament sa Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Naitala ng 18-anyos na si Chung ang tying goal sa 93rd, na ipinagbunyi ng 2,980 hometown fans na nanood sa makapigil-hiningang Group A match.

Una nang nakakuha ng goal si Keo Sokpheng ng Cambodia sa 41-minute mark ng laban mula sa right wing.

Isang araw lang ang magiging pahinga ng U-22 Azkals bago kalabanin ang Myanmar bukas, Miyerkules.

“I am speechless because this is absolutely amazing,” wika ni Chung, na ang ina ay naninirahan sa Camiguin, sa pagiging bayani ng Nationals sa kanyang SEA Games debut.

Subalit mas malaki ang inaasahan ni coach Serbian Goran Milojevic sa kanyang player.

“He (Chung) is a forward so he is supposed to score goals.”

“While I believe my boys were the better team, the Cambodians played extremely well,” dagdag ni Milojevic. “But they never gave up so I am proud how they recovered in the second half. Overall it was a good game for us.”
