SA dalawang sunod na taon sa gitna ng nararanasang pandemiya dala ng COVID-19 ay ipinagdiwang ng Philippine Navy (PN) ang kanilang ika-123 founding anniversary sa pamamagitan ng simple subalit makahulugang okasyon na ginanap sa punong himpilan ng hukbong dagat.
Pinangunahan ni PN Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo ang payak na pagdiriwang na pinasimulan sa flag raising,v pagwawagay-way ng watawat ng Pilipinas na naka half-mast at sinundan ng panalangin, isang minutong katahimikan at sabayang pagpitada ng mga busina at sirena ng mga barko ng Navy sa buong Filipinas.
“This solemn sequence was simultaneously observed in all PN units across the country to pay tribute to all the sailors and marines, frontline personnel and all medical workers who perished while performing their sworn duties,” paliwanag ni CDR Benjo F Negrenza, Director, Naval Public Affairs Office
Pinasalamatan naman ni Vice Admiral Bacordo ang lahat ng bumubuo ng Naval organization . “for unparalleled effort and dedication in the performance of our mandate. I am confident that the Philippine Navy’s ability to stay committed in serving the interests of our maritime nation is unquestionable. We continue to invest our time, effort, and all available resources in order to assert our national security agenda by protecting our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
“It has been a pleasure to serve this maritime nation with all of you. Thank you for your unwavering dedication. Continue on with what we started. Refuse to yield to challenges…Mabuhay ang Hukbong Dagat ng Pilipinas! Happy 123rd Anniversary!” dagdag pa ng Navy chief sa nasabing pagdiriwang na may temang “Protecting and Securing our Maritime Nation Amid New Challenges”.
Hinirang naman sa nasabing pagdiriwang na Type Command of the Year ang Philippine Marine Corps; Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao bilang Operating Forces of the Year, Naval Education, Training, and Doctrine Command na siyang Support Command of the Year, at Naval Information and Communications Technology Center bilang Support Unit of the Year.
