ISA ang Filipinas sa mga bansang lalahok sa FIBA Esports Open 2020, isang torneo na lalaruin sa NBA2K platform.
Ang serye ng tinatawag na “exhibition e-basketball games” na gaganapin sa June 19-21 ay isang paraan ng governing body upang gawing visible ang basketball kahit virtually sa gitna ng lockdown.
“The esports initiative was identified by the FIBA Central Board as important and consistent with the strategic objective to enlarge the FIBA family,” wika ni Frank Leenders, media and marketing services director general ng FIBA.
“In these challenging times, we feel encouraged by the enthusiasm of some of our National Federations who are already active in this space and have been our charter partners during the last few months.”
Ang iba pang FIBA member countries na lalahok sa Esports Open 2020 ay ang Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cyprus, Indonesia, Italy, Lat-via, Lebanon, Lithuania, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland at Ukraine.
Ang bawat koponan ay bubuuin ng pitong players, lima sa court at dalawang reserves.
Ang bawat laro ay ila-livestream sa Facebook, Twitch at YouTube channels ng FIBA na may live commentary sa English.
