PINAIGTING ng Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) ang pagbabantay sa presyo ng mga isda kasunod ng oil spill sa Bataan.

Nag-deploy rin ang BFAR ng mga tauhan nito sa mga lugar na apektado ng oil spill upang matiyak na ang mga isda na ibinebenta sa mga palengke ay ligtas kainin.

“The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) has been conducting on-ground monitoring and assessment of fishing areas and communities that are potentially affected by three consecutive maritime incidents in the waters of Bataan,” nakasaad sa Bataan Oil Spill Bulletin No. 03 Series of 2024 na inilabas ng BFAR nitong Miyerkoles.

”The DA-BFAR has deployed personnel in catch landing sites and local markets in the affected and nearby areas to ensure that oil spill-contaminated seafood does not reach the consumers at the same time evaluate market dynamics to maintain the price stability of fish,”nakasaad pa sa bulletin.

Nagpadala na rin ang BFAR ng mga tauhan upang tumulong sa paglilinis ng mga langis sa karagatang apektado ng oil spill at paglalatag ng floating assets tulad ng nets at oil spill boom upang mapigilan ang patuloy na pagkalat ng tumagas na industrial fuel sa karagatan habang hindi pa isinasagawa ang siphoning at lifiting operation sa mga lumubog na barko.

“DA-BFAR’s floating assets have been mobilized to assist partner agencies in monitoring and surveillance , clean-up operations, and fabrication of deployment of oil spill booms using used nets, and coco fiber. DA-BFAR has been in closed coordination with the Provincial Local Government Units and the RegionaL Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) to expedite the early recovery program,” sabi pa sa bulletin.

Nakatakdang mamahagi ang ahensiya ng fuel subsidies at ayuda sa mga mangingisdang apektado ng oil spill sa mga lalawigan ng Bataan at Cavite upang makalayo ang mga ito ng pangingisda sa mga bahagi ng karagatang hindi apektado ng oil spill.

“The Bureau is set to release fuel subsidies and additional food packs, relief packages to mitigate the impact of the oil spill on the livelihood of displaced fishers.Additionally , the agency is also validating alternative areas for capture fishing.”

Samantala, nagbabala ang BFAR sa pagkain ng mga isda na mahuhuli sa mga apektadong lugar ng oil spill upang maiwasan ang food poisonming bunga ng oil slick.

“ As a safety measure, the Bureau advises against consuming fishes caught in areas where oil slicks have been observed. This is to avoid incidents of food poisoning as a result of ingesting contaminated seafood.
