NAGLAAN ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ng P38.75 billion para sa digitalization program ng administrasyong Marcos sa ilalim ng proposed P5.768-trillion National Expenditure Program para sa 2024.

Ayon kay DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, ang panukalang budget para sa digitalization ng government processes ay tumaas ng 60.6 percent mula sa P24.93 billion na pondo noong 2023.

“Technological advancement has given rise to a growing digital economy which continues to create new forms of work, transforming the employment landscape. Hence, investing in the digitalization of the bureaucracy is crucial not only in enhancing its efficiency but also in generating quality jobs for Filipinos,” ani Pangandaman.

Idinagdag niya na ang malaking bahagi ng panukalang budget ay hahatiin sa 10 ahensiya ng pamahalaan.

Ang mga ito ay kinabibilangan ng Department of Education (P9.43 billion); Department of Justice (P5.55 billion); Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) (P5.34 billion); Department of Finance (P3.15 billion); Department of the Interior and Local Government (P2.60 billion); National Economic and Development Authority (P2.08 billion); Judiciary (P1.44 billion); Department of National Defense (P1.12 billion); Department of Environment and Natural Resources (P913 million) at Other Executive Offices (PHP890 million).

Ayon sa DBM chief, kabuuang P990.631 million ang ilalaan sa information and communications technology (ICT) Systems and Infostructure Development, Management, and Advisory Program ng DICT.

Layunin, aniya, ng National Government Data Center Infrastructure (NGDCI) Program, na tatanggap ng P1.67 billion, na mabawasan ang government spending sa pagkakaloob ng resources sa mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan ng colocation o cloud services.

Ang National Government Portal (NGP) ng DICT ay tatanggap din ng P302.86 million upang higit na mapaghusay ang public service sa pamamagitan ng pag-uugnay sa lahat ng government departments sa isang website.

Isa pang DICT program, ang National Broadband Plan (NBP), ang tatanggap ng budget na P1.50 billion para pabilisin ang internet speed.

Popondohan naman ng hiwalay na P2.5 billion ang Free WiFi Connectivity in Public Places and State Universities and Colleges Program, na may target na 50 broadband sites sa 82 lalawigan.
