TINANGGAP ng apat na Filipino athletes na nagwagi ng medalya sa Tokyo Olympics ang unang Philippine Senate Medal of Excellence.
Iginawad kina gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, silver medalists Nesthy Petecio at Carlo Paalam, at bronze medalist Eumir Marcial ang parangal sa session ng Senado nitong Lunes.
“The Philippine Senate Medal of Excellence aims to recognize, honor, and commend outstanding Filipinos for their exemplary service, outstanding achievements, and invaluable contributions to nation-building,” ayon sa Senado.
Ang apat na atleta ay tumanggap din ng cash incentives na nagmula sa lahat ng 24 senador na nag-donate ng tig-P100,000.
Si Diaz ay may P1 million dahil sa pagwawagi ng kauna-unahang Olympic gold medal ng bansa, habang sina Paalam at Petecio ay tumanggap ng tig-P500,000 at si Marcial ay binigyan ng P400,000 bilang insentibo.
