THE establishment of the Negosyo Center (NC) in Bay, Laguna last September 24, 2018 showcased the intensified implementation of the programs and services of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the province of Laguna. It is a key objective for the Negosyo Center to nurture the growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by facilitating developmental programs in their respective municipalities.
The SME Roving Academy (SMERA) is one of the flagship programs for the Negosyo Center. It is an activity that aims to provide additional knowledge for the MSMEs by conducting seminars with key topics on enterprise development. Moreover, through inviting potential business owners the importance of entrepreneurship is also promulgated to the community.
In Bay, Laguna, the Negosyo Center Bay conducted the SMERA on Packaging and Labelling requirements for Food products last March 15, 2019. The seminar highlighted the importance of Packaging and Labelling and the contribution of the MSMEs in our economy. Attendees came from different municipalities of Laguna ( Cabuyao, Biñan, San Pedro, Calamba, Los Baños, Bay, Calauan, Pila and Santa Cruz). Engr. Menandro B. Ortego served as the speaker for Packaging and Labelling.
One of the attendees, Ms. Christine Battalones Flores said,“I’m very thankful for all the services provided by DTI, especially these kinds of seminars. It helped us a lot. I’ve learned how to improve my product and the proper packaging techniques as well as labelling.”
