HINDI nababahala si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa dumadaming bilang ng Chinese natio­nals na nagtatrabaho malapit sa military bases sa bansa.

Sa ginanap na press briefing kahapon sa Malakanyang  ay sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo na tiwala ang Pangulong Duterte sa kapabilidad ng pamahalaan na malaman ang galaw ng Chinese nationals na kaya ring gawin ng China na maniknik sa Filipinas sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng mga modernong teknolohiya.

“He is not worried because we have the intelligence capability on knowing what they are doing,” wika ni Panelo.

“Another thing, the President said that with respect to the proximity. President said any foreign national working here, group, need not be near the military camps in order to get intelligence, because considering the high-tech, even if you are 1,000 miles away, they can spy on us if they want. Moreover, the President said, countries do spy on each other, that’s I think SOP (standard opera-tubg procedure) for all countries,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.

Nauna rito at nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana kaugnay sa dumadaming bilang ng mga Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations na malapit sa mga military camps sa Metro Manila.

Kabilang sa mga lugar na mayroong operasyon ng mga Chinese casino ay malapit sa Armed Forces of the Philippines general headquarters at Philippine National Police headquarters sa Quezon City, Philippine Air Force headquarters sa Pasay City, Philippine Army headquarters sa Taguig City at Philippine Navy headquarters sa Roxas Boulevard.

Kasabay niyo ay sinang-ayunan ng Malakanyang  ang mga pahayag nina  Lorenzana at Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia na ang  overseas Filipino workers sa China ay hindi maaa­ring magsilbing espiya ng pamahalaan ng Filipinas.

“The Office of the President shares the sentiment of Secretary Lorenzana and Secretary Pernia when they said that the OFW went to China for the purpose of work. Moreover, there is no place where they converge to work,” giit pa ni Panelo. EVELYN QUIROZ
