UMABOT sa $340 million na foreign portfolio investments o ‘hot money’ ang lumabas sa bansa nitong Hulyo, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Ang foreign portfolio investments ay tinatawag ding ‘hot money’ dahil sa kaluwagan ng pagpasok at paglabas ng pondo sa merkado.
Sa datos ng BSP, ang $340-million net ‘hot money’ noong nakaraang Hulyo ay kabaligtaran ng net inflow na $335 million na naitala noong Hunyo.
Ang net outflow noong Hulyo ay resulta ng gross outflows na $1.1 billion, na nahigitan ang gross inflows na $730 million sa kaparehong buwan.
Ang gross inflows noong nakaraang buwan ay mas mababa ng 65.3% kumpara sa $2.1 billion na naitala noong Hunyo.
Ayon sa central bank, 64.4% ng investments na naitala ay Philippine Stock Exchange-listed securities pangunahin sa property companies, holding firms, food, beverage and tobacco companies, banks at transportation services.
Ang nalalabing 35.6% ay napunta sa investments sa peso government securities.
