ITINALAGA ni Presidente Ferdinand Marcos Jr. si Eli Remolona bilang incoming Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) governor, ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Si Remolona ay mi- yembro ng monetary board ng BSP magmula noong 2022. Papalitan niya si Felipe Medalla, na ang tenure ay magtatapos sa July 2.
“After extensive consultations with the Department of Finance, various government offices, private banks and financial institutions, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has made the decision to appoint a new Governor to succeed Governor Medalla,” pahayag ng PCO sa isang statement.
Si Remolona ay unang nagtrabaho bilang economist sa Presidential Eco- nomic Staff and Development Management Staff noong administrasyon ni late President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. noong 1972.
Nagtrabaho rin siya sa Bank for International Settlements, kung saan nagsilbi siyang regional head for Asia and Pacific.
Si Remolona ay nagsilbi ring professor ng finance at director ng Central Banking sa Asia School of Business sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia mula 2019 hanggang 2022.
Nagtrabaho siya bilang consultant para sa Asian Development Bank, sa International Monetary Fund, at sa World Bank.
“As the newly appointed governor, Mr. Remolona is expected to leverage his extensive knowledge and experience to guide the BSP in promoting financial stability, implementing effective monetary policies, and fostering a robust banking sector,” sabi ng PCO.
