UPANG panindigan ang “highest standards of integrity and accuracy” sa pag-officiate sa basketball games, sinuspinde kahapon ng University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Basketball Commissioner ang tatlong referees ng tatlong linggo.
Bilang respeto sa privacy ng naturang mga referee, hindi binanggit ng liga ang pangalan ng mga ito.
Ang desisyon na suspindehin ang nasabing mga referee ay resulta ng subpar grades na tinanggap mula sa Referee Game Report Card, na nagsisilbing quantitative evaluation ng kanilang performance sa UAAP basketball games.
“We take the responsibility of providing competent and professional referees to the league very seriously, and it is essential that all officials maintain the highest level of integrity and accuracy,” wika ni basketball commissioner Xavy
Nunag sa isang statement.
“The suspension is intended to give the referees the opportunity to reflect on their actions and to improve their performance,” dagdag pa niya.
