INAASAHAN ang pagbagal ng inflation sa huling tatlong buwan ng taon sa kabila ng pinsalang iniwan ng bagyong Ompong sa sektor ng agrikultura, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Sa inisyal na pagtaya, ang pinsala sa sektor ng agrikultura ay nasa P14 billion.
Ayon sa BSP, ang inflation ay sisipa pa sa third quarter, at babagal sa huling quarter ng taon.
“We continue to see inflation peaking in the third quarter of 2018… In October, November, December, we do expect that those non-monetary measures that the economic cluster committee (proposed) will provide some support to the decline of inflation moving forward,” pahayag ni Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo sa isang press briefing sa BSP headquarters sa Maynila.
Ang impact ng bagyo sa produksiyon ay lilimitahan lamang sa mga lugar na direktang tinamaan ni ‘Ompong’.
“Based on the preliminary reports, the impact is basically isolated and confined to certain areas. So we don’t see a generalized effect on the supply, logistics, or even in terms of production,” ani Guinigundo.
“With respect to the rice industry, it is true that this is the lean season. The harvest is about to take place. In some areas, they have started to harvest… Impact on rice could be minimal with respect to that,” sabi pa niya.
