BUMAGAL pa ang inflation sa huling bahagi ng 2019 sa harap ng mas mababang presyo ng food commodities, ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
Sinabi ni BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno na ang inflation ay bumagal sa 1.6% (year-on-year) sa fourth quarter ng 2019 mula sa 1.7% sa naunang quarter.
Ang fourth quarter inflation ay naghatid sa full-year rate sa 2.5%, pasok pa rin sa target range ng pamahalaan na 2.0% hanggang 4.0% para sa taon.
“The downtrend in overall headline inflation may be traced mainly to lower food inflation as domestic rice prices declined with the beginning of the main harvest season and the continued arrival of rice imports,” ani Diokno.
“Non-food inflation also decelerated as most subcomponents, particularly those related to utilities, registered slower inflation rates,” dagdag pa niya.
