BUMAGAL ang inflation o ang pagtaas ng presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin noong Hulyo, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Naitala ang inflation sa  4% noong nakaraang buwan kumpara sa 4.1% noong Hunyo at sa 2.7% noong Hulyo 2020. Ang average inflation para sa 2021 ay 4.4%.

Ang pinakamabagal na numero na naitala sa kasalukuyan ngayong taon, ito ang unang pagkakataon na ang inflation rate ay pumasok sa 2-4% target range ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

Ang July figure ay mas mabagal din sa 4.3% inflation forecast at pasok sa 3.9-4.7% target range ng central bank.

Ayon kay National Statistician Dennis Mapa, ang mas mabagal na price increases para sa transport, restaurant at miscellaneous goods and services, kasama ang alcoholic drinks at tobacco, ang main driver sa milder inflation para sa Hulyo.

Ang transport ay nagtala ng 7% inflation print sa naturang buwan, mas mabagal sa 9.6% noong Hunyo.

“Food and non-alcoholic beverages are once again the top contributor for inflation during the month,” ayon kay Mapa. “Meat prices increased at a slower pace in July, while fish and vegetable prices went up faster.”

Ang iba pang major contributors para sa July inflation ay ang housing, water, electricity, gas at fuels.
