IPINAGKALOOB kamakailan ng NCAA Management Committee (MANCOM) ang cash donation na P100,000 sa lalawigan ng Batanes para sa mga biktima ng 5.9 magnitude earthquake noong nakaraang buwan.
Personal na tinanggap ng Batanes provincial officials, sa pangunguna ng governor nito na si Marilou Cayco, ang financial assistance sa halftime ng San Beda University-Letran College game sa Cuneta Astrodome sa Pasay City.
“We’re very thankful to the NCAA for their support to our province and our kababayans in Batanes. This is a big help for us as we try to recover from this disaster,” wika ni Cayco.
“We have families still in the evacuation centers, roads that need to be fixed, and also buildings that have to be repaired. So this is a big help and we’re truly grateful to the NCAA,” dagdag pa niya.
Ayon kay NCAA MANCOM chairman Peter Cayco ng season host Arellano University, ang donasyon ay kaugnay sa adbokasiya ng liga, partikular sa mga apektado ng natural calamities.
“What we did is part of the league’s advocacy, and as the oldest collegiate tournament in the country, as an institution, we’ve extended our help to our fellow Filipinos in need,” ani Cayco.
“The other member schools of the NCAA have done their part in helping our countrymen, but this time as one family, the NCAA has extended assistance to help Batanes,” dagdag pa niya.
